When Faith Becomes Sight

We were practicing last night for the upcoming Gaither Tribute concerts (see "Upcoming Events" on Events Calendar page for details) and these words, from the great hymn "It is Well With My Soul," jumped from the page - "When my faith becomes sight."  When does faith become sight?  When the things that we are praying and believing for actually happen.

It doesn't take much faith to believe for something that you can see.  In fact, the Scriptures define faith as "the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1).  I can look out my window at the beautiful sunshine and believe God for a sunny day!  That's not really faith.  It's a sure thing.  True faith is being certain of the things that we don't see.  It is the confident assurance that something we want to happen will happen, subject to God's timing and provision.

I looked across our growing choir and thought of the many prayer requests, that people expressed for years, that are now "sight."  They have been answered.  We can see the tangible results of our prayers.  What a source of encouragement!

Whatever you are believing God for...hang on.  Claim it.  Believe it.  Exercise your faith and wait for the day that your  faith will become sight!
